Trump posts AI-generated images of a “DronePort” he wants on top of the new White House ballroom
President Trump shared two AI-generated images at Truth Social over the weekend showing what he calls “DronePort” atop his planned White House ballroom.
One image shows rows of black military drones arranged in a circle on a shiny roof, surrounded by soldiers in tactical gear and fireworks exploding behind the Washington Monument. The other depicts a similar scene at sunset, featuring attack drones, fuel trucks and a group of soldiers. Both are stamped with the official White House seal.

“The DronePort in the White House Ballroom will perhaps be the most advanced anywhere in the world!” Embers wrote in a message accompanying the images. “It will protect our Nation’s Capital, Washington DC, well into the future.”
The models are part of a broader fight playing out on Capitol Hill. WIRED reported This week, the White House is pressing Congress to approve $1 billion in security funding for the East Wing project, including a roof, bulletproof glass and a hardened underground bunker designed to conceal a “counter-attack drone port and rocket launchers.”
The ballroom is being paid for by donors like Apple, Meta and Amazon, but White House officials told WIRED they are uncomfortable with private companies effectively subsidizing the presidential retreat.
Financing support has stopped. Senate Republicans last week tried to move $1 billion into a larger immigration bill, but parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough decided against BT. The deeper problem is that “the votes, plain and simple, are not there,” Republican Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana told reporters. Trump then in the name for MacDonough to be fired.
In his Sunday Truth Social post, Trump also went after U.S. District Judge Richard Leon, a George W. Bush appointee, who in April ordered that above-ground work on the ballroom be halted unless Congress gives permission. Trump said Leon “needs to stop playing games with America’s Security” and warned that if Washington is attacked, the judge “will be held responsible for the Death and Destruction that has caused our Country.”
Democrats used the funding request to establish Trump’s priorities. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, who recently rallied his caucus for a floor fight over $1 billion. wrote“At a time when Americans can’t make ends meet, Republicans say, ‘Let them eat cake,’ and then they give Trump a billion dollars to build a ballroom to serve the cake.” Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., took aim at Trump’s claim that no taxpayer money was at stake: sending About X “$1 billion is a lot more than a penny.”
