16 August 2025 11:06 | News

A highly anticipated summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin described the talks in Alaska as productive, but did not make any agreement on solving or pause Moscow’s war in Ukraine.

After about three hours of talks, during a short appearance before the media, the two leaders said they made progress on non -specified issues.

However, they did not offer any details and did not receive any questions, normally, Trump ignored the questions shouting by journalists.

Için There were many, many points we have agreed on.

“There is no agreement until it has an agreement,” he added.

The talks did not seem to have produced meaningful steps towards the next meeting between the ceasefire or Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in the most deadly conflict of Europe in 80 years.

The Russian President said he expects the Ukraine and European allies to accept the results of the US-Russian negotiations in a constructive manner and to try to yönetmek disrupting the resulting progress ”.

“I hope that today’s agreements will start not only to solve the Ukrainian problem, but also to start the restoration of pragmatic relations between Russia and the United States,” Putin said.

However, Putin also repeated that Moscow should eliminate what he claims to be “root causes ına to reach a long -term peace, and that a sign that he was resistant to the ceasefire should be eliminated.

While the two leaders were talking, the war continued, under the warnings of most Eastern Ukrainian region air strikes.

The governors of Russia’s Rostov and Bryansk regions reported that some lands are under Ukrainian drone attacks.

Zelenskiy officially delivered Moscow to any region and is also looking for a security guarantee supported by the US.

Trump said he would call Zelenskiy and NATO leaders for updates for updates in Alaska talks.

There was no reaction from Kiev to the summit.

Ukraine’s opposition politician Oleksiy Honcharenko said on social media: “Apparently Putin himself bought more time. No ceasefire or competition was decided.”

The closely observed summit was a complete contrast with the glory and the situation it started.

When Putin came to the Air Force Base in Alaska, a red carpet waited for him, where Trump greeted Putin warmly as the US military aircraft flew from the top.

For Putin, Russia’s first summit among a US president who had a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 was already a great win.

The meeting may describe the meeting as evidence that the attempts of Western years to isolate Russia have been solved and that Moscow has taken its rightful place in the high international diplomacy.

Trump hopes that a ceasefire will bring peace to the region and strengthen his identity information as a global peaceful worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Both Moscow and Kyiv refuse to target civilians in the war. However, thousands of civilians and vast majority Ukrainian died in the conflict, and the war killed or injured more than one million people from both sides.

Together with the best foreign policy aids, Trump and Putin have been given in a room in an Air Force base in Alaska, Alaska, Alaska, in their first meetings since 2019.

Zelenskiy and European allies, who were not invited to the summit, were afraid that Trump could sell Ukraine essentially by freezing the conflict, and only informal-Russia’s control over one-fifth of Ukraine.

Trump tried to get such concerns before the talks on Friday and said he would allow Ukraine to decide on possible regional concessions.

“I’m not here to negotiate for Ukraine. I’m here to get them on a table,” he said.

Trump said that it would end Russia’s war in Ukraine in 24 hours, and proved that it was a more difficult task than he expected on Thursday.

He said that if the meetings on Friday go well, he said that rapidly issuing a second, three -way summit with Zelenskiy would be more important than his encounter with Putin.
