Trump says ’50/50 chance’ of US-EU trade deal

On Friday, US President Donald Trump estimated that Washington’s chances of making an agreement with the European Union to reduce import tariffs was 50 percent.

In order to reduce the trade deficits of his country, Trump promised to hit dozens of countries with a punishment tariff hike if they did not make an agreement with Washington until August 1st.

Trump, when leaving the White House for a trip to Scotland, told reporters, “I can say that we have a chance of 50/50, maybe less than that, but the chance of making an agreement with the 50/50 EU,” he said.
The management promised “90 agreements in 90 days,” because it delayed the implementation of higher tasks in April, but so far introduced only five agreements, including England, Japan and the Philippines.

The EU’s 27 countries allow the European Commission to focus on making an agreement to avoid heavy US tariffs, and Trump threatens 30 percent without an agreement until the end of the month.

Brussels and Washington seem to be moving towards an agreement with a 15 percent US tax on EU goods and potential carving outputs for critical sectors, but on Thursday, EU states supported an retaliation package over $ 109 billion (93 billion euros). He has made it clear that he was talking about sending letters to US trade partners instead of negotiating free trade agreements.

The tariffs collected in other countries are ultimately transferred to US consumers as a sales tax, because they are paid by importers, not the country supplying goods or services.

“I do not want to hurt countries, but we will spend some time during the week and basically ’10 percent, you will pay 15 percent, maybe you will pay less” will say.” He said.

Trump said, “We didn’t really have a chance,” he said, “We didn’t really have a chance,” he said, that negotiators work with EU officials, but Trump threatened with a 35 percent tariff.

Trump said to journalists, Washington’s third largest goods trading partner this year, the United States and China, “the boundaries of an agreement”, he said.
