Trump says Canada trade negotiations ‘terminated’ over advert

US President Donald Trump said he will immediately end all trade negotiations with Canada.

He wrote on Truth Social that the country released an ad in which former President Ronald Reagan spoke negatively about tariffs.

“Due to their egregious behavior, ALL TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH CANADA HAVE BEEN TERMINATED,” Trump wrote in a post late Thursday.

The U.S. president imposed a 35 percent tariff on imports from Canada but allowed exemptions for goods falling under USMCA, a free trade agreement with Mexico and Canada that Trump negotiated during his first term.
