Trump says he plans to cancel most of Biden’s executive orders | Donald Trump
Donald Trump announced that he intends to cancel most of the presidential decrees signed by his predecessor, US president Joe Biden.
In a post on social media, Trump baselessly claimed that Biden did not sign the orders himself, saying that “the radical left lunatics circling Biden around the beautiful Resolute Desk in the Oval Office took the Presidency from him by signing his name using an autosign, a signature machine that has been widely used by US presidents since the invention of the device.”
Trump made false claims, saying “Autopen is not allowed to be used unless specifically approved by the President of the United States,” and that it was operated by others without Biden’s approval and that “approximately 92%” of all executive orders were therefore invalid.
“Joe Biden was not involved in the Autopen process, and if he says he was, he will be prosecuted for perjury.”
Trump has repeatedly claimed that Biden, not the one calling the shots at the end of his term, was stunned. Trump also claimed multiple times, without evidence, that Biden administration officials may have used autosignature to forge their boss’s signature and carried out far-reaching actions of which he was unaware.
While other presidents have relied on the device to sign important documents for decades, Trump has also obsessively cast doubt on the validity of pardons and other documents that Biden autosigned. Trump himself had used auto-on in the past.
This sweeping announcement also raised many questions about how Trump would actually override Biden’s pardons and executive orders, given that US presidents are allowed to use autobiography and there is no concrete evidence of any attempt to circumvent Biden’s will at the end of his second term.
However, Trump’s post was quickly celebrated by Republicans.
The Oversight Project, an arm of the conservative Heritage Foundation, launched in 2022 with a mission to “increase aggressive oversight of the Biden administration” and has relentlessly promoted the narrative of Biden’s use of automatic shutdowns, thanked Trump In a post on X.

The oversight committee released a report in October that made many sweeping claims about Biden’s use of autopen but did not include any concrete evidence that aides conspired to enact policies without Biden’s knowledge or were unaware of laws, pardons or executive orders signed in his name.
The report alleged a “cover-up of the president’s cognitive decline” by Biden’s inner circle and included controversial claims that the president’s mental state had deteriorated to the point that White House officials could enact policies without his knowledge and focused heavily on pardons he granted while in office, many of which angered Donald Trump.
Democrats on the committee said the report was “fake” and emphasized that it contained no evidence to support the allegations. Legal experts also warned that attempts to override past executive actions could set a problematic precedent, given that many other presidents have used automatic shutdowns.
