Trump says he will order voter ID requirement for every vote
(Reuters) -US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that each voter would give an executive order that requires voter identity.
“The voter identity should be part of each vote. There is no exception! For this purpose I will make an executive order !!!, Tr Trump said in the real Social.
“Also, except for the very sick and distant military, there is no vote for post-in,” he added.
Trump for a long time questioned the US election system and continues to incorrectly claim that the loss of 2020 to democratic President Joe Biden was the result of widespread fraud. The President and the Republican allies also made unquestionable claims about widespread voting by those who were illegal and rarely non -citizens.
For years, he called for the end of electronic voting machines, instead forced the use of paper ballots and counts – a process in which election authorities say that the machine count is time -consuming, expensive and much less accurate.
At the beginning of August, Trump has committed to executive order to end the use of mail ballot and voting machines before the 2026 midterm elections. However, the federal elections are applied at the state level and it is unclear whether the president has constitutional power to take such a precaution.
The elections on November 3, 2026 will be the first referendum on Trump’s local and foreign policies since his return to power in January. The Democrats will try to break the hold of Republicans on both the House of Representatives and the Senate to prevent Trump’s local agenda.
