Four patriotic movies that set the mood for Flag Day and celebrate the American spirit

Sunday is sure to be a hellish day for America.

The country is in the midst of hosting a spectacular World Cup tournament that has captured the hearts of foreign visitors from around the world and is still basking in their team’s big win against Paraguay on Friday.

To add even more excitement, the White House is celebrating America’s 250th birthday in style with a UFC event for the ages on the lawn.

And not only is it President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday, it’s also Flag Day.

Could there be more patriotism than this?

To celebrate such an important pride day in your country, I have selected four movies you should stage to celebrate your Flag Day in style.

These freedom movements will keep the Red, White and Blue blood flowing through your veins and make you proud to be an American.

“Patriot” (2000)

Let’s start things off with a movie so patriotic it literally has that word in its title.

Mel Gibson’s take on the role of Benjamin Martin during the Revolutionary War will keep your attention for the entire duration of the film.

It’s a fictional retelling and a bit sappy, but “The Patriot” is everything a red-blooded American wants in a wartime movie about the birth of his nation.

Gibson’s acting is superb, but special mention must go to Heath Ledger as Martin’s son Gabriel and Jason Isaacs as the villainous Colonel William Tavington, a deeply hated Redcoat.

I can’t think of a better way to kick off your Flag Day celebrations than with this tribute to Colonial America.

“Apollo 13” (1995)

From Revolution to Space Race, this ’90s classic celebrates American exceptionalism and determinism with a gripping running time of two hours and twenty minutes.

Tom Hanks, in particular, is magnificent as always, and his role as Captain Jim Lovell in the cursed spacecraft brought him and the film many awards.

“Apollo 13” is a great reminder that when America wants to achieve something, nothing can stand in its way.

“Best Weapon: Maverick” (2022)

The original “Top Gun” is one of my favorite movies of all time, but its sequel nearly four decades later might be even more patriotic, and I didn’t think that was possible.

Pro-American iconography and themes are thick and abundant in “Maverick,” with villains and conflicts updated for a modern audience.

Maybe it’s because the movie came out at a time when it was “trendy” to hate America, but “Top Gun: Maverick” stands out in the sea of ​​early 2020s nonsense.

“Top Gun” was a patriotic film in its own right, but many other blockbusters of the Reagan Era were equally pro-America.

This bad boy stands alone among his contemporaries in this regard, so show him some love this patriotic holiday.

“Miracle” (2004)
