Trump says US will declare ‘total victory’ over Iran in the next two weeks
President Donald Trump boasted in a phone call to South Carolina voters Monday night that the United States would declare “total victory” over Iran within the next two weeks.
Trump gave an updated timeline on the Iran war during a telerally in the Palmetto State in support of hawkish Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, who is trying to avoid a runoff in the GOP Senate primary on Tuesday.
“We’ve been a very tough team,” Trump said. ‘And I think we’re winning this war. But you will truly win it when we declare complete victory in the next two weeks.’
‘This will happen very soon and oil prices will fall,’ the President added.
Trump first told the Daily Mail in late February that the Iran war would last about four weeks, but it has now lasted more than three months; Gas prices across the country were rising rapidly.
The president said Iran is ‘negotiating right now and they want to make a very good deal.’
‘They are ready to give us everything. They are not ready to give us nuclear weapons. The people of Iran and South Carolina agree. “I saw a poll, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, it’s that simple,” he continued.
Graham attracted a handful of major opponents, some of whom objected to his overzealous stance on the Iran war.

Trump had been saying the war was over for weeks, but new clashes broke out between Iran and Israel in recent days, although the two countries stopped attacking each other early Monday.

He did not specify which country they were.

Iranian officials also reached out to the United States and said they would stop attacking Israel if Israel hesitated.

‘They called us and said they would not attack anymore and asked us to tell Israel not to attack again,’ the president said.
Trump quickly acted on a call to South Carolina voters made Monday evening before heading to New York City to watch the New York Knicks play in the NBA playoffs.
In addition to Graham, Trump also supported Lieutenant Governor Pamela Akşamte in the South Carolina governor’s race.
He faces several key challengers, including outspoken Rep. Nancy Mace, one of the GOP House members who split with Trump over the release of the Epstein files.
Because of the crowded field, the gubernatorial primary is likely to result in a runoff election later this month.
Graham also may enter the runoff race, but is expected to be re-elected in the traditionally Republican state.
