US President Donald Trump claimed that Chinese President Xi Jinping Xi Jinping would not encounter an invasion during the presidency of Taiwan.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said he did not expect China to do any action against Taiwan while staying in office.
“I will tell you, you know, you have something very similar to the President of China and Taiwan, but as long as I am here, I do not believe it will happen. We will see.”
According to Trump, Xi said to him directly: “I will never do it as long as you’re president.”
China reacts to Trump’s words
Following Trump’s words, the Chinese Embassy in Washington called Taiwan as the “most important and sensitive issue in the US-China relations. He urged the United States to comply with the Single-China principle, emphasizing that Washington should work carefully at Taiwan and work to maintain stability in the Taiwan Strait and a wider US-China relationship.
Taiwan detects Chinese planes and sea ships near his territory
Taiwan National Defense Ministry (MND) reported that the Chinese military activity near the island has increased. On Saturday at 6 o’clock Mnd, 21 Chinese military aircraft and seven sea ships operating around Taiwan, he said.
According to the ministry, 13 of these planes crossed the Median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered the northern and southwest air defense identity zone (Adız) of the island.
