Trump sends 4 word warning to Iran after Strait of Hormuz closed again | World | News

Donald Trump warned Iran not to “blackmail” the United States after it reversed its decision to open the Strait of Hormuz. “They can’t blackmail us,” the US President said, repeating Washington’s claims that it had eliminated most of the country’s leadership, navy and air force.

“Very good talks are going on. Things are going well. They got a little cute, as they have been doing for 47 years. They wanted to close the throat again, as they have been doing for years, they cannot blackmail us. At the end of the day, we will have information. We are talking to them, we are taking a tough stance.”

After closing the vital waterway again, Tehran is now calling for ships to pay to pass through the strait.

In the statement of the Supreme National Security Council shared by the Fars news agency, it was stated that Iran will monitor and control the traffic on the shipping route “until the war ends definitively and a permanent peace is established.”

The council said ships must pay “the costs associated with safety, security and environmental protection services”.

Before they are allowed to pass through the Bosphorus, they must send all information about the ship to Iran and obtain a passage document.

Iran’s joint military command said in a statement on Saturday that “control of the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its previous state under the strict management and control of the armed forces.”

He warned that the US would continue to block passage through the strait as long as the blockade of Iranian ports continues. In its statement, the army accuses the US of “piracy” and says the “so-called blockade” amounts to sea robbery.

Khatam Al-Anbiya, the operational command of the Iranian military, added: “Until the United States grants full freedom of navigation to ships originating from Iran to a destination and from a destination back to Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain tightly controlled and in its previous state.”

The announcement came after Mr. Trump said the American blockade “will remain in full force” until Tehran reaches a deal with the United States, including on its nuclear program, even after Iran announced the reopening of the strait on Friday.

Movement in the major waterway briefly increased this morning with a few shipping vessels observed, but it remains unclear how much maritime activity is actually taking place.
