Trump ‘struggles’ to read Bible verse as viewers make teleprompter claim | US | News

President Donald Trump attended a marathon Bible reading with scores of prominent Christian supporters and senior Republicans, with viewers claiming he had “a hard time” reading from a teleprompter.
On Tuesday evening, the US President read an Old Testament passage calling for national repentance in ancient Israel; These were words spoken for decades by those who defended the idea that America was and should remain a Christian nation.
He delivered the segment from his desk, his hands on an open Bible, but his gaze was fixed directly on the camera, leading livestream viewers to comment that he was reading from a “phone.”
Another critic questioned the president’s reading, claiming “Trump recorded this days ago”
The images alternated back and forth between the two camera angles.
In a statement on the occasion, Trump declared that the Bible “is indelibly woven into our national identity and way of life.”
His passage has been read aloud at countless rallies, ceremonies and meetings for decades.
It originates from the seventh chapter of 2 Chronicles, a book found in the Hebrew Old Testament section of the Bible. The most quoted verse is: “If my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
As the US president read the passage, one viewer said: “Trump is having a hard time reading.”
This comes after Trump faced backlash from his own supporters after sharing a meme depicting him as Jesus.
Trump later deleted the image from his Truth Social platform, insisting that it depicted him as a doctor wearing a white robe.
One viewer said: “Trump thinks he can swear and post an AI picture of himself as Jesus and read a few chapters of the Bible and think everything is fine.”
