Trump tears apart Keir Starmer in another savage Churchill takedown | UK | News

Donald Trump has again criticized Sir Keir Starmer, saying there is “no Winston Churchill” in another brutal attack on the Prime Minister. The US President said he was “disappointed” by Starmer’s initial refusal to send an aircraft carrier to the Middle East.
Speaking in the Oval Office on Tuesday, March 17, Trump told reporters that he had rejected Starmer’s offer to send British aircraft carriers to assist in the US war effort against Iran. Britain reportedly refused to send warships to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while saying it was unhappy with Britain’s stance on the ongoing conflict. The canal, through which approximately one-fifth of the world’s global oil supply passes, was kept closed due to Iran’s missile and drone attacks.
As reported by Sky NewsTrump told reporters: “Unfortunately, Keir is no Winston Churchill.” He added: “He hasn’t been supportive and I think that’s a big mistake.
“You know, they make a lot of money from trade with the USA. I went out of my way [to make a trade deal]. “We got a good deal for them and, frankly, we probably weren’t appreciated.”
When asked about his relationship with England, the president said: “It was always for the best until Keir came along.” But Trump insisted Starmer was “a very nice guy with a nice family”.
He said he was “disappointed because Keir was willing to send two aircraft carriers after we won, because there was actually no threat.” [and we] “No, no, we want things to be sent before the war, not after the war is won,” he said.
He continued: “After destroying them [Iran] Trump said, ‘We will send two aircraft carriers.’ “And I said, ‘I don’t want them anymore, I don’t want them after we win.'”
Trump later said: “I just said, ‘You don’t need to send me aircraft carriers, send me some minesweepers, we don’t need your aircraft carriers,’ but he would even send aircraft carriers only after we won. He sends them when there are no planes left, when missiles are down to 8%.”
Starmer insisted Britain would not be dragged into a “wider war”, while France and Germany also rejected the idea of taking an active role. The Prime Minister recently emphasized the importance of focusing on Russia’s war with Ukraine.
