Trump threatens attack on Cuba ‘very soon’ as President on the warpath | World | News

US President Donald Trump has threatened to attack Cuba “very soon” as he sets his sights on regime change in another country.

His comments came just a day after he warned that he would “have the honor” of taking Cuba. Signaling that he was about to intervene in another country, the 79-year-old leader said that the United States was “really focused” on the issue. Speaking to reporters today, Tuesday, March 17, the president said, “Cuba is in a very bad situation right now.”

He continued: They are talking to Marco and we will do something with Cuba very soon. We’re really focused on that.”

This came just hours after Trump dramatically escalated tensions with Cuba by declaring that he expects to have the “honor” of “taking” the island nation, whose national power grid completely collapsed on Monday, plunging 11 million people into darkness due to a US-led oil blockade.

Mr. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Monday: “I believe I will have the honor of taking Cuba. I think I can do whatever I want with it, whether I free it or take it, you want to know the truth. They are a very weakened nation right now.”

Last month, a U.S. Coast Guard ship stopped a tanker carrying crude oil from Colombia to Cuba.

As a result, there have been no large shipments of fuel to the island since January 9, triggering a rapidly worsening crisis. Black market gasoline prices rose to nearly $35 per gallon, and daily power outages became increasingly common.

The US President insisted that the US could win the war against Iran without any help, adding that most NATO allies had told him they did not want to take part in the country’s military operation.
