President Donald Trump demanded that the Justice Department pay him a whopping $230 million for criminal investigations against him after his first term in the White House ended. New York Times It was reported on Tuesday.

The Times noted that any potential deal would have to be approved by his second-term appointees.

Trump filed his complaints about the Justice Department’s investigations “through an administrative requests process, often a precursor to lawsuits,” the newspaper reported.

A claim filed in 2023 seeks damages in connection with the Justice Department’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and potential ties to Trump’s campaign that year, the Times said.

Other allegations filed in mid-2024 accuse the FBI of violating Trump’s rights by searching his Mar-a-Lago club and home in 2022 as part of an investigation into Trump’s withholding of classified government documents after he left the White House after his first term.

Trump was indicted in federal court in Florida in connection with the investigation into charges of withholding those records and interfering with federal authorities’ efforts to recover them.

A judge threw out that case, and the Justice Department ultimately dropped a challenge to her decision and the entire case after Trump won the 2024 election.
