Trump’s chosen successor for Lindsey Graham goes all in, shakes up race in SC

Sen. Darline Graham, R.S.C., wants to make permanent her role as caretaker of her brother’s Senate seat.
Graham, who was appointed to serve out the remainder of his late brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham’s term, is officially entering the special election to seek the Republican nomination in South Carolina following an endorsement from President Donald Trump.
In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Graham acknowledged there was a “tremendous amount of pressure” to take over the position and run.

“I feel like I can do this, I feel an inner peace about it,” Graham said. “Will it be difficult? Yes.”
When asked if he had made a decision about what to do, he said he had given it to Hannity.
“I’m in,” Graham said.

His addition to the growing list of hopefuls to replace the late lawmaker is likely to shake up the race with less than a day to go before candidates begin officially filing to run.

So far Representatives Ralph Norman, RS.C., Russell Fry, RS.C. and businessman Mark Lynch have decided to run publicly. Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., strongly suggested that she, too, would throw her hat into the arena.
