Truth Social to sell ‘fastest’ access to Trump’s posts

Trump Media & Technology Group has unveiled a paid, licensed data stream that will give banks and trading companies the “fastest” access to posts from influential Truth Social accounts, such as that of U.S. President Donald Trump, whose posts often move global markets.
The product, called the Truth API, will deliver posts from the 10 most influential accounts to customers much faster than regular push notifications on the Truth Social platform, a spokesperson said.
The feed is designed for organizations “most impacted by the cost of information latency,” such as algorithmic trading firms, the company said in a statement.
“Until now… companies that prioritize monitoring influential Truth posts have relied on manual monitoring. Truth API bridges the gap,” the statement said.
The move is TMTG’s first foray into data licensing and paves the way for a new revenue stream for the company, which has faced challenges scaling its media business due to stiff competition from larger social media firms.
“Markets are already shifting towards Truth Social posts… As adoption increases, we expect the Truth API to become a meaningful, recurring revenue source for the company,” said Kevin McGurn, interim CEO of TTMTG.
Trump made several announcements through his Truth Social account that shook markets around the world, including posts about “Liberation Day” tariffs and trade restrictions on China, making the platform a crucial feed for traders, businesses and financial institutions.
On April 9, 2025, Wall Street’s major indexes rose sharply after Trump said in a post on Truth Social that he would pause most of his new tariffs for 90 days.
“As far as I know, Trump is the only market-moving poster on Truth Social, and his posts are definitely moving the market,” said Mark Spiegel, managing member and portfolio manager at Stanphyl Capital Partners.
When asked if this move would create unequal trading opportunities for investors with larger funds, Spiegel said that while there have always been unequal trading opportunities, this will just be another one.
According to regulatory filings, the Donald J Trump Revoable Trust owns approximately 114.75 million shares, representing approximately 41 percent of all outstanding shares of Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social.
Robert Frenchman, a partner at the Dynamis law firm in New York who has defended clients in the federal government’s business investigations, said publicly traded companies should be careful about how they disclose information on such platforms.
However, such platforms are allowed to offer early access to customers even if it disadvantages some market participants.
“This certainly seems unfair, but yes, a technology platform can cascade the distribution of information without violating federal securities laws,” Frenchman said. TMTG did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether this move would create imbalanced trading opportunities.
Democratic Senator Ron Wyden criticized the program, saying selling access to the president’s statements would make Wall Street traders rich.
The product will provide 24-hour-a-day coverage of influential posts and will include an archive of posts going back to 2022. The company said it has already signed up customers ahead of the Aug. 1 launch.
Some of the most followed accounts on Truth Social are dedicated to Trump himself, including his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, as well as those closely affiliated with him, including prominent supporters such as Dan Bongino and Sean Hannity.
