Tsunami threat issued for Pacific after 7.6 Philippines earthquake | World | News

Following the 7.6 million magnitude earthquake that occurred in the last hour, an emergency tsunami warning was issued to those living in the south of the Philippines.
The warning states: “According to the local tsunami scenario database, wave heights are expected to be more than a meter above normal tide level and may be high in closed bays and straits.
“The first tsunami waves are predicted to arrive between 9:43 a.m. and 11:42 a.m. PST on October 10. These waves may continue for hours.”
Residents in the area from Eastern Samar to Sungao Del Sur are “strongly advised to evacuate immediately” and authorities are urging people to find higher ground and move inland.
