TVK president Vijay to meet Karur stampede victims’ families in Mamallapuram on October 27

Exactly a month after the stampede in Karur that killed 41 people during Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay’s political rally on September 27, the actor-turned-politician is scheduled to meet the families of the victims at a special hall in Mamallapuram on Monday, October 27, 2025.

A senior TVK leader has been confirmed to have approved Hindu He said Mr. Vijay would meet the bereaved families on Monday morning. The party leader said the event will be held behind closed doors where Mr. Vijay will interact with family members and offer his condolences.

Party sources said the decision to hold the meeting outside Karur was due to logistical problems and security concerns. The party had earlier planned to hold the event in Karur and was looking for a suitable place to make necessary arrangements for the meeting.

He submitted a petition to the Director General of Police (DGP) on October 8, seeking permission and security arrangements for Mr. Vijay, under Y category security, to visit Karur and meet the families in the second week of October.

However, the DGP office directed the party to appoint a representative to coordinate with Karur District Police Chief on security protocols and venue arrangements.

Party sources said the party was eventually unable to identify a suitable venue in Karur due to logistical constraints and security concerns, which led to a shift to Mamallapuram.

Party activities have been suspended since the stampede on September 27. TVK sources said organizational work and public events will continue after Mr. Vijay meets the families of the victims.
