Two arrested after toddler dies in ‘hazardous materials incident’ in Newham

A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of a young child in a “hazmat incident”.
The one-year-old girl died in hospital on Tuesday after receiving treatment.
The Metropolitan Police said he was previously “believed to have come into contact with chemicals” at a flat in Newham, east London.
Police added that the two arrested men were not known to the one-year-old child.
The 41-year-old man and the 26-year-old woman were arrested on Wednesday and are both in police custody.

“London Fire Brigade called police to Barking Road in Upton Park at around 1.20pm on Tuesday following reports of hazardous chemicals in a residential area,” police said in a statement. he said.
“Two adults and another six-year-old child were treated in hospital. The injuries were confirmed to be non-life-threatening or non-life-threatening.”
In the statement, it was stated that the family of the dead girl was supported by expert police officers.
“The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.”
It was understood that the incident had no connection with terrorism.
