Two boys, aged 12 and 13, were taken to hospital after being stabbed at a school in north London.
An emergency manhunt was launched to capture the suspect, who police identified as a young boy.
The incident took place at Kingsbury High School on Bacon Lane in Brent at around 12.40pm today.
The condition of the two stabbed children is not yet known.
In a post on its website, a school spokesman said there had been a ‘serious incident’ in the area.
They added that they spoke directly to the parents and caregivers of the students involved.
Detective Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads the force in north-west London, said: ‘We recognize that this incident will cause serious concern within the community.
‘We would like to reassure local students, parents and residents that we are dedicating significant resources to the area and doing everything we can to find the suspect.
The incident took place at Kingsbury High School on Bacon Lane in Brent at around 12.40pm today.
‘Our thoughts are with the injured children and I would like to thank the paramedics and doctors who cared for them.
‘We will provide further updates when possible.’
A Met Police spokesman said the suspect was believed to be a teenage boy.
“Urgent investigations are ongoing to locate him,” they added.
A spokesman for Kingsbury High School said: ‘We want you to be aware that there was a serious incident at Kingsbury High School today.
‘We work closely with the relevant authorities and follow all necessary procedures.
‘The situation is currently under control and we have spoken directly to the parents and carers of the students involved.
‘We understand this will be concerning. Currently, it is not possible to enter or exit the school area while the intervention continues.
‘We will provide further updates as soon as we are able to share verified information.’
