Two candidates confirmed in Labour race to replace Angela Rayner | Politics | News

Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson and former-commons leader Lucy Powell, Angela Rayner’s Labor Party deputy will go head to head to replace Angela Rayner. The couple nominated enough to do so in the first stage of the competition.

Backbencher Bell Ribeiro-Ady was removed from the race after not getting 80 nominations from the workers’ deputies to proceed to the next stage. After 17:00 on Thursday, according to the last installment, Mrs Phillipson received 175 candidates, Mrs. Powell 117 and Mrs. Ribeiro-Ady 24.

Initially, the other three deputies who threw their hats in the ring – the President of the Common Foreign Affairs Committee Dame Emily Thornberry, Backbencher Paula Barker and Housing Minister Alison McGoven – after the fight to reach the threshold, the candidacy left the closure.

Ms. Phillipson and Mrs. Powell should now support 5% of three affiliated organizations, including election Labor Party branches (CLPS) or unions.

After making their fields to members at the Liverpool Conference, the online member voting compass will be held between 8 October – 23 October and the result will be announced on Saturday, October 25th.

Ms. Powell was dismissed as the leader of the Commons in the last reorganization of Sir Keir Starmer, which would be guaranteed for him to lead to greater tensions within the Labor Party.

According to a Yougov Worker Voter Survey, 62% said that it is very or very important to come from the working class history, and then it came from London and out of South.

Approximately 42% of the workers’ voters said the winner should be from the left of the party compared to only 27% of wider voters.
