Two charged over Heathrow Airport ‘pepper spray’ attack

The incident resulted in the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and Terminal 3 car park.

Two men have been charged over a suitcase robbery at London Heathrow Airport in which what was thought to be pepper spray caused injuries.

HM Courts and Tribunal Service staff said Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, were charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of administering a noxious substance.

The charges follow an investigation into an attack on the Terminal 3 multi-storey car park on Sunday. Before the attack, two women had their luggage stolen after they got off the parking lot elevator, police said.

A 3-year-old girl was among those injured in the incident. 5 people who were hospitalized were discharged after receiving treatment.

Mr Richards, of no fixed address, and Mr Clarke-Butcher, of Mantlet Close, Streatham, are expected to attend the meeting. Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

On Monday, the Met Police said it had also arrested a 23-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. He was later released on bail pending further investigation.

A second woman, 57, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. He was later released under investigation.

Another man, 31, was also arrested on suspicion of affray on Monday. Police said he was being held in custody.

The incident, which the Met said was isolated and not considered terrorism, caused train delays and the brief partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and Terminal 3 car park.
