Two dead, 3 injured in ‘salsa festival’ shooting in Toronto; attacker at large

Montreal: Toronto police were searching for an active shooter who killed two people and injured three others Saturday night in an area lined with shops and restaurants.

“Please avoid the area immediately and follow all police instructions,” Toronto police said in the X post.

“Police have secured the scene,” authorities later said in a follow-up post.

According to local media reports, the attack took place in an area where a salsa festival was held.

The incident comes on the heels of another shooting in Montreal late last month in which two people, including a police officer, were killed by an assailant who was later shot and killed by law enforcement.

In February, a school shooting in the small western mining town of Tumbler Ridge killed eight people, including the gunman’s mother and half-brother, and injured 27 others before he himself committed suicide.
