Delhi Police arrested two Haryana-based businessmen for allegedly impersonating members of the notorious Kala Jathedi gang and threatening extortion against a businessman in Delhi, an official said on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
The accused have been identified as Rajan Kalra (26), a resident of Yamunanagar, and Sahil Garg (38), a Jagadhari of Haryana. Police said three mobile phones allegedly used in the commission of the crime were seized.
The case came to light when businessman Rohit Jain, who was engaged in manufacturing plastic adhesive tapes in Bawana, approached Adarsh Nagar police station with a complaint that he was receiving threatening calls from international numbers.

Mr. Jain claimed that the callers claimed to be members of the Kala Jathedi gang and demanded money while threatening him with dire consequences, including death, if the demand was not met.
During the investigation, police found that Mr. Jain had an ongoing business dispute with Sahil Garg, who had earlier lodged a complaint against him alleging cheating and non-payment of around Rs 2.95 crore.
Police said the extortionists claimed to have accepted a “token sum” of ₹ 50 lakh from Garg to recover the disputed money and threatened to eliminate the complainant if he did not make the payment.
A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on June 7 under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on extortion and criminal intimidation.
Through technical surveillance and analysis of call records, investigators found that the accused used both international and Indian phone numbers for threatening purposes.
The police team carried out raids at many locations in Haryana’s Karnal, Jagadhri and Yamunanagar districts. Police said Rajan Kalra was first arrested and subsequent interrogation led to the arrest of his accomplice Sahil Garg.
During interrogation, both the accused allegedly confessed their involvement in the case and disclosed that they had no connection with the Kala Jathedi gang. Instead, they used the gang’s name to create fear and pressure the complainant into paying money, investigators said.
During the operation, two mobile phones allegedly used by Rajan Kalra to make extortion calls and another mobile phone used by Sahil Garg were seized. Police said Rajan was running a business in Yamunanagar, while Sahil was involved in trading medical equipment.
