Two men arrested in London after man run over by van in Birmingham | UK news

Two men have been arrested in London following an incident in Birmingham that resulted in a man being run over by a van after flags were removed from lampposts.

Officers arrested the men at Euston station, near the meeting point of the “Unite the Kingdom” march.

The Metropolitan Police said the men had come to the capital to protest but were arrested in Birmingham on Thursday evening in an unrelated incident. The police did not name any person in their statement about X.

Police said: “Officers detained two men near Euston station.

“Two men wanted on suspicion of GBH following an incident in Birmingham where a man was run over were seen arriving in London to join the protest.”

West Midlands police confirmed on Friday they were investigating an incident in which a man was run over by a van in the Birmingham suburb of Stirchley on Thursday evening.

A man in his 30s suffered a broken leg that required surgery. He remained hospitalized after the incident Thursday evening, police said.

“The van failed to stop at the scene but was recovered from nearby Prince Road and is currently being examined,” West Midlands police said in a statement.

“We are monitoring CCTV and social media footage as we try to establish the full circumstances of what happened.”
