Two people were arrested by Vaniyambadi taluk police in Tirupattur on Wednesday for manufacturing and selling textile fabric in the district.
The arrested persons were identified as 52-year-old K. Perumal and 26-year-old S. Rajesh. They were residents of Kothakottai village near Vaniyambadi town. Police said Mr Wakhare directed a police team to carry out a surprise raid in the village following a complaint from an illegal arrest unit. Thereupon, the team searched in various parts of the village and found a collection unit in an agricultural land.
Police said that the duo tried to flee the scene when they noticed the police team, but the team caught them. They also destroyed several barrels and units. A case was registered and those arrested were sent to a sub-jail in Tirupattur. Additional investigation is ongoing.
