Nigella Lawson will replace Prue Leith as the new host of the Great British Bake Off, according to reports.
On Wednesday, Prue announced she was leaving the Channel 4 show after nine years as a judge alongside Paul Hollywood.
A TV source said contract talks were in the final stages and bosses were excited about how the presenter’s “cheeky jokes” would spice up the programme.
‘Nigella is known worldwide. “Synonymous with Bake Off, all of his work is full of playful innuendos and naughty patter, bringing cheeky banter to a tee,” a source said. Sun.
‘Prue was amazing but Nigella will be a hit for sure. Contract negotiations are in their final stages and if all goes well, Nigella will soon be warming up the famous tent.’

On Wednesday, Prue announced she was leaving the Channel 4 show after nine years as a judge alongside Paul Hollywood.
Nigella, 66, has served as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia and a main judge on Australia’s My Kitchen Rules in recent years.
Her first cookbook, How To Eat (1998), became a bestseller and was followed by How To Be A Domestic Goddess (2000), which won Writer of the Year at the British Book Awards.
Nigella has hosted many cooking shows over the years and is widely known for her innuendos and descriptive, sensual language.
Meanwhile, Prue, who replaced former show judge Mary Berry in 2017, confirmed she was bidding farewell to the popular baking series, admitting it felt like “the right time to step back and make way for someone else to join the team.”
Paul, 58, and the show’s presenters Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond will remain on the programme.
Prue took to Instagram to confirm her departure. She wrote: ‘After nine series and judging over 400 challenges, I have decided to step down as a judge on The Great British Bake Off.
‘Bake Off has been an amazing part of my life for the last nine years; I really loved it and I’m sure I’ll miss working with my fellow judges Paul, Alison and Noel and the teams at Love Productions and Channel 4.
‘But now it feels like the perfect time to step back (I’m 86 for God’s sake!), there’s so much I want to do, at least spend the summers enjoying my garden.

‘Whoever joins the team, I’m sure they’ll love it as much as I do. ‘I feel very lucky to be a part of this.’
Love Productions, which is behind producing the Channel 4 programme, said: ‘From her genuine expertise and encouragement to the bakers to her ability to drop innocent insinuations that reduced the entire tent (and viewers at home) to tears of laughter, Prue will always have a piece of Bake Off’s heart.’
Channel 4’s Ian Katz added: ‘Prue was a delightful presence in the tent, combining absolute culinary authority with great generosity and empathy for the bakers.
‘We are grateful for his passion, his intelligence, his indescribable style and all the summers he spent in the tent. She leaves an indelible mark on the show and all of its bakers.
‘We will miss his wry and gentle judgment, but we look forward to working with him on new projects.’
Bake Off last aired in September 2025 and concluded in November with student Jasmine Mitchell being crowned the winner.
