Remains found on beach thought to be missing swimmer

It is believed that the remains of a man who disappeared while celebrating the end of his high school exams were found on the beach where he disappeared.
The 18-year-old disappeared while going swimming at Little Bay Beach in Arakoon on the mid-north coast of NSW about 4.20pm on Sunday.
A three-day search involving police, surf lifeguards and volunteers found no sign of the man, and difficult conditions hampered efforts.
At 7:30 a.m. Friday, a passerby reported finding suspicious human remains at Little Bay Beach.
Acting Principal Stephen Edwards confirmed in a statement that the missing man had recently completed his Year 12 exams at King’s School in Sydney’s west.
“The school is in contact with the family and will continue to provide support while respecting their requests for privacy,” Mr. Edwards said in a statement on Tuesday. he said.
“I ask that you keep your family in your prayers and keep them in your hearts.”
John Murray, from volunteer group Marine Rescue NSW, said vessels from Trial Bay and Port Macquarie had searched the waters from Laggers Point to Gap Beach for almost eight hours.
While the bodies are taken for forensic examination, a report will be prepared for the coroner.
This is the second incident in the area in recent days, following the death of a 59-year-old man who was pulled from the water at Crescent Head on November 28.
Also in November, a shark attack killed a Swiss woman and seriously injured a Swiss man, both of whom were swimming at a remote beach on the mid-north coast of NSW.
