Uber inks robotaxi deal with Lucid, invests $300 million in EV company

Uber On Thursday, he announced more than 20,000 Robotaxis usage partnerships for the next six years, because the driverless car demanded high gear.

Companies are planning to launch Robotaxis in a large US urban center next year.

“We are excited to be a partner in this new Robottaxi program for the purpose of the Uber platform with Nuro and Lucid, and to bring the spell of autonomous driving to safely to more people in the world.” He said.

In an interview with CNBC, Lucid Temporary CEO Marc Winterhoff called his partnership as an opportunity to compete in a “completely new” addressable market, where the home manufacturer has just penetrated.

Supported by Google and Softbank Vision Fund, Nuro will provide the “Level 4 Self -Driving System” software for cars. Technology can direct passengers under normal traffic and weather conditions without a wheeled person.

Partnership with Lucid and Nuro follows Uber’s alliance Alphabet-Backed Waymo. Earlier this year, the two companies expanded their services to Atlanta and Austin, Texas.

Waymo’s vehicles are considered to be level 4 as defined by SAE driving automation levels. Tesla Today, it sells autopilot and FSD -controlled systems that require a person on the wheel. Elon Musk’s home company launched a Robotaxi pilot test in Austin in June.

Lucid said that the 450 -mile interval for gravity vehicles should help reduce costs and reduce wage times while increasing accessibility. Winterhoff said that the program may eventually contain clear vehicles that are currently being developed.

“We were chosen because of our home technology leadership.”

For the first prototype tool, the test continues in a closed circuit in Nuro’s Las Vegas -based proof. In April, the beginning of T. Rowe Price, Fidelity, Tiger Global and Greylock collected $ 106 million in a financing round.
