United Democratic Front (UDF) convenor Adoor Prakash on Friday said the UDF leadership meeting held in Thiruvananthapuram was only an “official” meeting. No final decision was reached regarding ministerial appointments at the meeting. Major decisions regarding the new government, including Cabinet formation and portfolio allocation, will be finalized at another meeting scheduled for Saturday, he added.

Addressing the media after the UDF leadership meeting, Mr. Prakash said that preparations were progressing for the swearing-in ceremony to be held on Monday. He stated that besides Prime Minister-designate VD Satheesan, other UDF leaders may also take oath on the same day.

When asked about the composition of the State Cabinet, the UDF convener said all these issues would be discussed with the constituent party leaders in the meeting to be held on Saturday.

He explained that at Friday’s meeting, no final decisions were made on ministerial staff, the number of ministers to be assigned to each party or portfolio distribution.

IUML national general secretary and MLA-elect PK Kunhalikutty also told media persons that no decision has been taken so far. He said talks between UDF leaders will continue on Saturday after more leaders, including IUML State president Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal, arrive in the State capital.
