Singtel’s unit Pastel sold 51 million shares of Bharti Airtel, India’s second largest telecom operator, at Rs 2,030 per piece; This represents a discount of around 3.1 percent from Airtel’s last close on Thursday. Singtel has been an investor in Bharti Airtel since 2000.
Singtel’s stake in Bharti Airtel
Singtel currently holds a 27.5 per cent stake in Bharti Airtel, up from 31.4 per cent in 2022. The telecom company is gradually reducing its assets to strengthen its balance sheet and increase shareholder returns. This disposal is part of Singtel’s medium-term asset recycling program aimed at financing investments in digital infrastructure and services.

Bharti Airtel shares have more than quadrupled in value since the end of 2019 on the back of strong earnings growth and higher average revenue per user, allowing Singtel to realize gains on its long-held investment.

Bharti Airtel Q2 Results
Bharti Airtel, in a recent stock exchange filing, said its consolidated net profit rose 2x to 8.651 billion rupees in the second quarter of FY26. The company made a profit of 4,153.4 billion rupees in the same period last year. Airtel’s EBITDA increased by 35.9 percent year-on-year to 29,919 billion rupees in the second quarter of 2026, while the EBITDA margin stood at 57.4 percent compared to 53.1 percent year-on-year.
