Ugandan Woman Arrested In Mangaluru Drug Bust; Rs 4 Crore MDMA Seized

Mangaluru: In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Mangaluru City Police has arrested a woman of Ugandan origin accused of supplying narcotics to drug dealers operating in the city. Police seized 4 kg of MDMA worth Rs 4 crore from him.
The accused, identified as Jalia Zalwango, was arrested from Jigani on the outskirts of Bengaluru, City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said in a press release.
“However, a source for the suppliers was arrested,” he said.
The arrest comes as Zalwango’s role as a supplier is being questioned following the detention of several drug dealers in December. Acting on clues, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) team tracked him down and arrested him.
The suspect was sent to the courthouse with a request for his arrest.
“As per NCB assessment, the total value of the seized MDMA is estimated to be Rs 4 million. We will seek his custody for further interrogation,” the commissioner said.
