UK cash and carry collapses into administration – sells 5200 products | UK | News

An official announcement revealed that it has entered a cash and carry administration in the United Kingdom. In the announcement shared in the London Gazette dated 24 April 2026, it was revealed that SK Food and Drinks Limited entered administration on 21 April. The business, officially a “wholesale of non-specialty food and drink” according to Companies House, was incorporated as a company in 2011. Since he did not share any explanation about entering the administration, no reason was revealed.

Companies normally go into administration when they experience financial difficulties and want to save all or part of the business. A manager is an external body appointed to manage the business and make changes to save it. SK Food and Drinks Limited’s registered address is Unit 1, Gravelly Industrial Park, Birmingham, West Midlands, B24 8HZ. Sandra Fender of Sanderlings LLP has been appointed administrator of the business.

Administration doesn’t mean a company is closing, but sometimes store closings can occur as part of the process. While SK Food and Drinks Limited did not address the transition into administration, companies going through similar processes suggested that factors such as changing customer habits, labor costs and operational costs caused financial difficulties.

While SK Food and Drinks Limited has not ceased operations, its website is currently inactive. However, their social media accounts are still live.

It employs between 11 and 50 employees, according to its LinkedIn page. “SK FOOD AND DRINKS LIMITED is a Retail, Trading and Foodservice wholesaler based in the West Midlands,” the LinkedIn description reads.

The latest posts on the Facebook page promote deals on alcohol, candy and sugary drinks.

Additionally, British TV manufacturer Opus Restructuring LLP has filed for administration after 16 years of operation.

The Daily Express approached SK Food and Drinks Limited for comment.
