Charlie Sheen says Denise Richards still loves him nearly 20 years after explosive divorce

It took Charlie Sheen six years to reconcile with his third ex-wife, Denise Richards, following their toxic 2006 divorce that required alleged death threats, a 1,000ft restraining order and supervised child custody visits.

So when Club Random host Bill Maher told Martin Sheen’s 60-year-old nepo babe on Monday that he believes the 54-year-old Bond Girl ‘obviously still loves you’ – before smiling and replying: ‘Yes.’

Charlie was all smiles as he recalled how Denise described him as ‘a little shy’ and ‘a little old-fashioned’ while being interviewed for the new Netflix documentary AKA Charlie Sheen.

The Real Time presenter, 69, added during their 140-minute conversation: ‘He’s not at all what people think he is,’ he said.

Sheen (born Carlos Estévez) responded: ‘Yeah, that was good to hear. Yes…I remember it very well.’

Bill kept laughing about Richards’ “candid sobs” in Andrew Renzi’s two-part documentary series; Richards “emotionally” discussed their divorce “because it was too much and I had to hold it together for their two daughters.”

Charlie is still estranged from their 21-year-old daughter, Sami, but is close with their 20-year-old daughter, Lola, whom they welcomed during their two-year marriage.

‘I believe in fate. “I wouldn’t have Sami and Lola if it wasn’t for her,” the Wild Things star said. People February’s cover story.

‘Despite everything we’ve been through, we can still have a sense of humor about all the bullshit we’ve been through.’

Sheen has been sober for almost eight years and has remained single since being diagnosed with HIV a decade ago.

Bill then recommended the former Hollywood bad boy watch Richard Curtis’ 2003 Christmas blockbuster Love Is All There; this film also featured a cameo from Denise.

Charlie shouted: ‘I think Denise is in on this, isn’t she?! He actually appears at the very end of Love and has a super memorable role. I’ve never seen it but people love it because of this movie. Or did I torpedo this? He’s in on this too.”

Bill explained some more about Richards’ ‘genuinely friendly’ role as Carla offering to Tony (Abdul Salis), and Sheen exclaimed: ‘Oh, shit. Go get it, D!’

Ironically, the Book of Sheen author seems harmless to the RHOBH alum as she’s in the middle of a contentious divorce from her estranged second husband, Aaron Phypers, as Charlie ‘never hit her below the belt.’

On October 17, a judge extended Denise’s temporary restraining order against the unemployed 52-year-old until November 7, and during a break in the hearing, Denise was taken into police custody.

Aaron was charged with two felony counts of injury to a spouse (in 2022) and two felony counts of dissuading a witness by force or threat and was released hours later on a $200,000 bond.

Phypers’ attorney, Michael Finley, told People: “I haven’t seen the criminal complaint yet, but based on the little information I’ve been told, it appears to be the same allegations that we’re already fighting, and I think have been proven false in the domestic violence case.”

‘Therefore, we expect this allegation to be proven false and to acquit him.’

The Canadian-American former CEO, who has ‘no income’, filed for divorce from Richards on July 7 after six years of marriage and requested spousal support of approximately 105 thousand dollars a month.

The Illinois-born beauty wants Aaron to pay her legal costs and any expenses related to the alleged abuse, and requests that Aaron participate in a 52-week batterer intervention program.

The former couple began dating in December 2017, before Phypers’ divorce from Desperate Housewives alum Nicollette Sheridan was finalized in 2018.
