That won’t help the post-holiday blues! Dozens of cars parked at Heathrow Airport are submerged by floodwaters

While a car park at London Heathrow Airport was flooded, passengers were advised to contact their insurance companies about possible damage.

The images show that part of the Heathrow car park and the adjacent road are covered in deep water due to a ‘local water problem’.

In one particularly deep section, the front tires of several cars were seen to be completely submerged and some of their headlights were also blocked.

It is not yet clear what the extent of damage to cars is, but Heathrow said affected motorists should ‘contact parking operators and motor insurers if necessary’.

Multiple workers arrived at the scene Wednesday morning and the airport confirmed the problem had been resolved.

Heathrow is the largest hub in the country and saw 7.2 million passengers travel in December alone.

The video circulating on social media had the title: “Imagine landing at Heathrow today and finding your car like this.”

One person commented: ‘When I got back to the car I saw my headlights had dimmed and the engine was flooded!’

A Heathrow spokesman said: ‘Yesterday morning, a local water issue affected Heathrow car park, which is operated by a third party car park provider.

‘The problem has since been resolved.

‘We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and would advise any passengers who believe their vehicle may have been affected to contact their parking operator and, if necessary, their motor insurer.’
