Hubble Telescope Captures Stunning Images of Dracula’s Chivito

Using the Hubble Space Telescope, scientists at NASA imaged the largest planet-forming disk ever observed orbiting a young star. Located about 1,000 light-years away, the telescope found the disk to be “unexpectedly chaotic and turbulent” and dubbed it ‘Dracula’s Chivito’.
“The findings mark a new milestone for Hubble and shed light on how planets can form in extreme environments,” according to NASA.
Although officially named IRAS 23077+6707, the nickname Dracula’s Indigo playfully reflects the legacy of its researchers; one from Transylvania and the other from Uruguay, where the national dish is a sandwich called chivito. The disc on the edge resembles a hamburger; The dark band in the middle is surrounded by bright upper and lower layers of dust and gas.
