Britain’s heatwave looks set to end this weekend, with temperatures dropping to 7°C on Sunday.

After enjoying weeks of sunshine above 30 degrees during three heatwaves, Brits are set to feel an unseasonably chilly air as autumn temperatures return this weekend.

The lowest temperatures will be seen in northern England; WXCharts will show 9C at 6am on Saturday, July 18, and 7C at the same point 24 hours later.

In fact, temperatures will be below 10°C in 15 forecast areas on Saturday morning and 70 areas will see single digit temperatures on Sunday, mostly in Northern England and the Scottish Highlands.

They cover 14 council areas. England’s five include Westmorland, Cumberland, Northumberland, North Yorkshire and County Durham.

The nine counties in Scotland are Highland, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Perth and Kinross, Argyll and Bute, Scottish Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, East Ayrshire and South Ayrshire.

However, the temperature will be 18C in the southwest on both weekend mornings. The weather forecast for the remainder of Saturday and Sunday (July 19) is for sunny and cloudy days across most of the country.

The Met Office’s forecast for Thursday to Sunday, July 16, is: “It will remain dry and stable throughout the weekend. Sunny weather will persist, perhaps bringing the odd showers, although cloud amounts will generally increase. Very warm at first, then temperatures move closer to average.”

London’s highest temperature this weekend is expected to be 25C and the lowest temperature is 14C. Cardiff will be warmer than London, with a high of 26°C on Saturday, 25°C on Sunday and a low of 15°C and 13°C respectively.

In Scotland, where Edinburgh will experience a high of 21 degrees and a low of 11 degrees on Saturday, the weather will be cooler, followed by temperatures of 23 degrees and 13 degrees. Belfast on the Irish Sea is facing similar temperatures of 22°C on Saturday and 21°C on Sunday.
