UK pharmacy chain collapses into administration – family business since 2023 | UK | News

The company behind a pharmacy chain with more than a dozen stores in Scotland has collapsed into administration. It has been confirmed that Amiry & Gilbride Pharmacy and Travel Clinic outlets remain open despite holding company Amiry & Gilbride Healthcare Limited being placed into administration.

The joint administrators said 15 outlets across Scotland were operating “as normal” but there were plans to sell the group. Administrators from BDO LLP said 13 pharmacies and two retail/prescription collection units were managed by two subsidiaries that had not entered administration. Amiry & Gilbride Pharmacy and Travel Clinic is described on its website as an independent, family-owned business.

It says: “In 2023, Mahyar and Sara Nickkho-Amiry partnered with John Gilbride to take over pharmacies sold by a large corporation.”

The joint administrators said they had established a “new management structure” for the business’s subsidiaries, which “will now operate under the management of John Gilbride and his experienced team”.

The statement shared with Express said: “None of the subsidiaries have been placed into administration and these organizations continue to trade pharmacy as normal.

“The joint administrators have established a new management structure for the subsidiaries, which will now operate under the management of John Gilbride and his experienced team.

“The joint administrators will work with John and his team to gain a clear understanding of the financial position of the EVS group. Once completed they will seek to sell the group through a marketing process.

“Interested parties are encouraged to contact the joint administrators without delay.”

Managers were appointed to the holding on April 29.

According to Amiry & Gilbride Pharmacy and Travel Clinic’s website, its head office is in Glasgow and has many stores there.

It also has branches in Paisley, Lanarkshire and the Highlands.
