UK snow maps show blizzards as far south as Cornwall – full list of 20 counties hit | Weather | News

UK weather maps show snowfall in England and Wales later this month, with many counties blanketed in white. Maps show snow will fall on December 19, with a small area of Devon the first to see the winter rain.
Later the same day, parts of Cornwall, including Ilfracombe, were covered in white. Snow is also expected in Somerset in southern Wales, North Wales near Anglesey and Lancashire.
The next day, December 20, maps show snow fell in Oxford and Luton, and North Wales was also hit.
WXCHARTS maps predict temperatures in the east and south-east of England will be between 2°C and 4°C, with lows of 0°C.
The Met Office predicts that rain will be heavy between December 13 and December 22, accompanied by strong winds.
The agency adds: “Although generally mild, there may be a slight downward trend in temperatures later in the period, particularly in northern parts of the UK where there may be a slightly higher chance of experiencing some winter hazards at times.”
More rain and some snow in the northern hills are expected from December 23 to January 6.
Strong winds in coastal areas “may be followed by drier and more persistent winds, but it is very uncertain how long these will last.”
“Temperatures will likely be near average or slightly above average.”
