The report adds: “Strong winds are also possible at times, again more likely in the west. Temperatures are expected to remain near or above normal.”
Netweather’s December 15-21 forecast says there will be occasional rain, especially in the west and southwest.
The forecaster adds that slow-moving rain bands have the potential to lead to large rainfall totals, but later in the week the trend will be on the drier, quieter side.
Netweather says: “Widespread snow is unlikely to occur this week, but it could get colder later in the week, particularly in the east and south of Britain.”
There is also the potential for overnight frosts and areas of fog, according to the forecaster.
Average temperatures are expected to be near average, he says, but will generally be 1-2 degrees above average in most areas.
