Parts of the UK will be hit by cold weather over the next few days as temperatures drop to 1°C below freezing in June. WXCharts weather maps show that a 286-mile rainstorm will hit many parts of the country on June 6, leaving many areas under water.
The cold, wet conditions come just days after the UK experienced one of its hottest days, with temperature levels reaching record highs of 34.8°C, according to weather charts. Last week, the UK Health Safety Agency issued its first amber-hot health warning out of 2026, covering most of England, including the West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England, South East and London. The North East, North West, South West, Yorkshire and Humber regions were under yellow alert.
The latest weather maps show areas from Manchester to Plymouth will experience wet weather, with temperatures dropping into single digits.
Maps show areas experiencing the heaviest showers include London, Surrey, Oxford, Gloucester, Cambridge, Reading, Southampton and Plymouth.
Maps suggest that temperature levels will oscillate between 5-6 degrees in these regions.
However, the coldest weather will be seen in northern parts of England; temperatures will reach 1C around Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen.
The Met Office’s long-term forecast for 31 May to 9 June is: “A more variable period than we have seen recently as Atlantic weather systems move in from the west, bringing drier and some showers or, at times, longer spells of rain.
“Rain is likely to be heaviest in the west and northwest, with the driest conditions more likely in the south and east.
“Temperatures will generally be close to normal, with the hottest spots likely to be in the eastern regions. It will also be windy at times, especially in the northwestern regions.”
