UK weather maps show 30C mini-heatwave hitting 8 counties in May – full list | Weather | News

The UK is expected to suffer a mini heatwave next week as temperatures rise to 30C. WXCharts weather maps show that many areas in the UK will experience extremely hot weather on 26 May (Tuesday), the day after the Bank Holiday weekend.

The latest map shows temperature levels will rise as high as 30C in around eight counties in England. But weather maps have turned red for most parts of England, signaling the possibility of extremely hot conditions.

A heatwave in the UK is defined by the Met Office as at least three consecutive days in which daily maximum temperatures exceed the county-specific threshold, reflecting a sustained spell of unusually hot weather.

Heatwave threshold temperatures vary across the UK. In Greater London the temperature is 28C, in Northern Ireland and Scotland it is 25C.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast for May 25 to June 3 is as follows: “Bank Holiday Monday is hot and dry for most. Throughout the week, high pressure is expected to continue across much of the UK, meaning fine weather will continue in most places.”

“From time to time, there may be scattered rain in the far north and a few showers in the far south. Temperatures are expected to be above normal and very hot with light winds from time to time.”
