Newcastle will be covered in 1cm of snow, as will central and central Wales. Yorkshire and the Humber will also be covered in 1cm of snow.

The Met Office’s weather forecast for April 22 to May 1 is as follows: “Due to slowly evolving weather conditions, high pressure is likely to remain in the north or north-west of the UK for much of this period. This means that, overall, a fair amount of dry weather is expected, although there are some exceptions.”

“Firstly, Atlantic front areas may graze to the southwest near the beginning of this period, which could bring some rain and windy conditions.

“The second half of April could see cold air blowing southwards across much or all of the UK for a period, creating showers in the north and east and the threat of more widespread frost overnight.

“It seems quite likely that any cold weather will be short-lived before milder conditions are re-established.”
