UK weather maps show temperature plunge to 4C – 22 counties below 10C | UK | News

UK weather maps show the exact date when temperatures dropped to 4C, with 22 counties dropping below 10C. More than 20 counties are expected to wake up to temperatures below 10C next month as new weather maps show Britain faces a dramatic cooling period.
The latest WXCharts maps, based on ECMWF data, show temperatures could drop as much as 4°C by July 4, bringing an abrupt end to recent scorching weather. The forecast shows single-digit temperatures widespread across Scotland, northern England, the Midlands and Wales in the early morning hours. The graphs come just days after forecasters warned parts of Britain could be facing one of the hottest June heatwaves on history. The forecast marks a dramatic turnaround from the intense heat expected this week. The Met Office said temperatures could reach 37C on Tuesday and 38C on Wednesday and Thursday; some forecasts suggested parts of England could approach the 40C mark, prompting forecasters to issue a rare red heat health warning alongside amber warnings across much of the country.
The latest ECMWF charts show a significant bounce back after just two weeks.
Temperatures are expected to drop to around 4°C in parts of the Scottish Highlands at 6am on July 4, while large parts of England and Wales are likely to wake up to temperatures below 10°C.
Temperatures are expected to be between 7°C and 9°C across much of northern England, while parts of Wales and the Midlands will also be in single figures.
Maps show some of the coldest conditions will be felt in rural and highland areas, where night temperatures could drop more sharply under clear skies.
While long-term forecasts continue to change, the latest model outputs point to a very chilly start to the day for millions of Britons.
The predicted decline highlights the variable nature of summer weather in the UK; temperatures vary dramatically, from heatwave conditions to the unseasonably cold start of July.
