UK weather: Parts of country to get break in heatwave but dry spell to continue

In addition to the prolonged heat, this summer has been extremely dry for many places.
Rainfall patterns varied significantly across the UK, but the driest areas were the east and north-east of England, which received only around half the rainfall expected by this stage of the summer.
Wisley in Surrey has now experienced 31 dry days, making it the longest dry spell for a large area of central England in 30 years.
While high pressure will dominate next week, many places will experience very little precipitation.
The wettest locations are likely to be in northwest Scotland, where frontal systems could bring up to 30 mm (1.18 inches) of rain throughout the week.
There may also be a few showers elsewhere, particularly near the coasts, although much of the interior could experience at least another five completely dry days.
