UK weather: Temperatures to soar to 29C this weekend as sunshine returns after week of rain

Temperatures will rise above 29 degrees this weekend as rain and clouds give way to sunshine.
Heavy rain and unstable conditions are expected to dominate the week, with the possibility of occasional hail and thunderstorms.
But forecasters say there will be “above average” temperatures and bright conditions from Saturday into next week.
The Met Office has warned of cold and wet weather, predicting that temperatures will be below average throughout the week. Stormy conditions are expected in the north of England on Tuesday, where forecasters say hail and thunder are possible.

This will result in a shower of rain forecast to cover the UK on Thursday before moving eastwards.
But from Friday the outlook is expected to brighten and temperatures are expected to rise into the early twenties in the south-east of England as pressure increases across the country.
Starting from Saturday, temperatures are expected to rise up to 29 degrees and rise even further in some places.
Deputy chief meteorologist Steven Keates said: “The UK forecast from this weekend will have a noticeably warmer and drier component with prolonged periods of above-average temperatures, with values in some places likely to reach 27 to 29°C, with values higher than this.”
High pressure is expected to remain near the UK until Tuesday, with conditions settling widely and generally bringing above-average temperatures.
Forecasters warned it was “likely” that settled conditions would continue into next week, but temperatures may not remain as warm.
