Poly Intake Rises in Tech Courses

Hyderabad: From semiconductor manufacturing to electric vehicles and artificial intelligence, Telangana’s degree admissions this year increasingly reflect the industries expanding around Hyderabad’s tech corridor, officials said while releasing the counseling schedule.
The first phase of TGPOLYCET 2026 consultancy will start on May 27, and certification verification will run from May 29 to June 1. Web options will close on June 3 and seat allocations will be announced on or before June 6.
A total of 33,140 diploma quotas are available in 111 polytechnic colleges, of which 18,788 are in government institutions and 14,352 are in private unaided colleges. Another 2,930 seats fall under the Economically Weaker Section category.
Emerging technology programs show a significant expansion. Semiconductor Technology has 720 seats, while Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning offers 990 seats. Automation and Robotics, Electric Vehicle Technology, Cyber Physical Systems and Security, and Cloud Computing and Big Data have also been introduced or expanded.
Computer Science and Engineering continues to lead with 6,490 seats, followed by Electrical and Electronics Engineering (5,385) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (5,305).
Officials said 70 helpline centers, including all 59 government polytechnics, have been set up for certificate verification and admission support.
