Three local residents and a youth from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), who were trying to cross into Pakistan, were arrested near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday, May 31, 2026. An Army spokesman said two local youths tried to infiltrate PoK from Uri district and their guide, a former Territorial Army jawan, was arrested along with them.
“They were captured following a search operation launched in the general area of Uri following certain intelligence input. The two persons from Sopore were captured by the soldiers while they were allegedly trying to infiltrate from the Uri area along with their guides,” the Army said.
The military said the investigation was ongoing.
In a separate operation, the Army arrested a PoJK intruder who was caught crossing the LoC in the Uri sector. “Alert troops maintained restraint while challenging and apprehending the intruder. The man was handed over to the Jammu and Kashmir Police,” the Army said.
The PoK citizen, identified as Zeeshan Ahmad Mir, a resident of Painkadi village in Muzaffarabad district of PoK, was allegedly planning to meet a local girl, Iram Bano, a resident of Tilawari of Uri. He was detained near the Silikote district of Uri.
“Both are being questioned,” officials said. A cross-LoC love affair has not been ruled out, officials said.
