Underlining the disconnect between the opposition and the national pulse, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a harsh criticism of the Congress party’s election conduct.
Speaking at a public event, the Home Minister claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s repeated failures in the elections were a direct result of prioritizing legal technicalities over “development policy”. Shah noted that although the BJP has secured repeated mandates through trust and sensitive management, the Congress continues to struggle as it remains at loggerheads on issues that have significant public support.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said his repeated election defeats were due to failure to understand public sentiment and development policies.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s recent statement in the Parliament questioning why the Congress continues to lose elections, Shah said understanding the outcome of the two public programs will explain the reason behind the party’s defeats. He emphasized people’s confidence in the BJP’s governance model, stating that it has been elected time and time again in areas like Vanzar without any major agitation, obstruction or public protest.
Shah accused Rahul Gandhi of focusing on issues like FIRs instead of addressing people’s real concerns. “Rahul Gandhi is busy understanding FIRs instead of understanding governance and public issues, which is not even his responsibility,” he said.
Making a political move, Shah claimed that the Congress will continue to lose in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu and suggested that the BJP will return to power once again in 2029 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Listing out key policy decisions, Shah said the Congress was against every move that had public support, including the construction of the Ram Temple, air strikes on Pakistan, action against Bangladeshi infiltrators, abrogation of Article 370 and temple construction in Kashi.
“Where are the votes going to come from when you oppose everything the public supports?” he asked.
Concluding his remarks, Shah said that even Rahul Gandhi’s own party leaders could not make him understand the basic facts, adding that the BJP’s development-oriented policy and sensitive governance model continued to resonate strongly with the public.
