Union Minister Chairs Meeting On Waltair Region Rail Development

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Divisional Committee of Members of Parliament (MPs) of Waltair division under East Coast Railways (ECR) met in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday under the chairmanship of union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu.

The meeting, organized by ECR director general Parmeshwar Funkwal, brought together 10 MPs representing Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Members of Parliament shared their views and suggestions on improving railway infrastructure and passenger amenities across the department. Appreciating the developmental initiatives undertaken by the Waltair division, MPs highlighted concerns about train services, layovers and onboard facilities.

The main issues discussed at the meeting included construction of Amrit Bharat stations, launching of new train services to various destinations from Araku, Koraput, Jagdalpur, Raygada and Srikakulam, increasing train frequency between busy places like Chennai, Bengaluru and Tirupati and expansion of existing services.

Various capacity expansion projects were discussed at the meeting, including new lines, doubling, tripling and the construction of the fourth line. Infrastructure projects such as new Roads Under Bridges (RUBs) and Roads Over Bridges (ROBs) were discussed.

ECR chief executive shared updates on the region’s operational performance, key infrastructure initiatives and ongoing improvements to passenger services.

Waltair railway division manager Lalit Bohra gave a detailed presentation on the division’s development activities, financial year performance, progress of Amrit Bharat Station projects and infrastructure improvement measures.
